She Rides Shotgun is a 2025 action/drama from director Nick Rowland starting Taron Egerton, Ana Sophia Heger, Odessa A’zion, Rob Yang and Keith Jardine in central roles.

The film tells the story of a newly- released convict (Egerton) who must go on the run with his daughter Polly (Ana Sophia Heger) after a gang has put a price on their heads.

The film is essentially a dad and daughter road trip story chronicling their relationship and attempts to survive and along the way there are a handful of violent moments building to a big confrontation scene toward the end.

The film leans heavily into the Lone Wolf and Cub trope and there are certainly similarities to Leon: The Professional but thankfully without the Luc Besson sexual undertones that marred that film.

This is a very compelling story and Egerton and Ana Sophia Heger really sell the difficult relationship of father and estranged daughter.

It’s a shame that the film didn’t get a wider theatrical release because it really is a good film even if a certain character is over the top with the god complex thing.

Overall: 4/5 – Shotgun!!
