Looney Tunes: The Day the Earth Blew Up (2024) is an animated sci-fi comedy from Warner Brothers starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig featuring the voice talents of Eric Bauza, Candi Milo, Peter McNicol and Fred Tatasciore.
The film was produced by Warner Brothers Animation but sold off for distribution and there has been a very limited release. The film is due to be released in US cinemas in March, doesn’t have a UK release date and has only been released in selected European countries.
Porky and Daffy, the classic animated odd couple, turn into unlikely heroes when their antics at the local bubble gum factory uncover a secret alien mind control plot. Against all odds, the two are determined to save their town (and the world!)…that is if they don’t drive each other crazy in the process.
Due to it’s limited release, I am not going to go into the plot or spoilers but I will give my overall experience and opinion of the film but I can say that we finally find out why Porky Pig stutters.
So, what did I think about The Day the Earth Blew Up?
It was quite fun. I wasn’t really expecting that because I’m not a fan of Looney Tunes but this works.
The film left me with a smile throughout although some parts were a little too over the top even by Looney Tunes standards and some of the jokes fell flat, I have to give it points for being dumb and enjoyable with extra points for having an epic scene with a certain R.E.M song excellently placed.
This is a just a sit back and enjoy the madness type movie which I think fans of Looney Tunes will enjoy
